Did something like this pop up on your web browser locking your screen and requiring you to make a phone call?
Users are often redirected to this website by various potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that often infiltrate systems without permission. As well as causing redirects, PUPs misuse system resources, gather information, and deliver malicious ads (pop-ups, coupons, banners, etc.)
If you call the number, they will then supposedly resolve your computer issues. In fact, “Microsoft Has Blocked The Computer” error is fake – a scam that has nothing to do with Microsoft. Cyber criminals claim to be certified technicians and offer help (which is not needed) for a certain fee
What to do in this situation?
Do not click on anything. Press the shut down button on your computer and power off your laptop/PC, Restart your system and clear your browsing history, cache. Be careful of what websites you go to purchase your pillows or click on any links to download.
If you are further concerned about the security of your system it is a good idea to get your computer checked from a legitimate IT techician and check your bank accounts/contact the bank for unknown transactions.
We at Top Cat Computers can help if you are bamboozled by cyber criminals.
